Kevin O’Malley, a principal at Chatham Asset Management, has joined the Board of Trustees at ECLC of New Jersey, a nonprofit that offers “Education, Careers and Lifelong Community” to more than 750 individuals with special needs.

While O’Malley is relatively new to the Board, both he and his fellow principal Evan Ratner of hedge-fund sponsor Chatham Asset Management have been generous contributors to the organization over the years.

“Over the past few years, Chatham Asset Management has supported the initiatives of ECLC and developed deep relationships with Executive Director, Bruce Litinger,” said O’Malley. “The ECLC team of inspirational professionals provides best-in-class programs to people with special needs and, in turn, an invaluable service to the entire community.”

ECLC is an accredited, nonprofit and serves children and adults diagnosed with autism, Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities. ECLC operates schools in Chatham and Ho-Ho-Kus, educating nearly 300 students, and offers adult programs and services.

O’Malley brings a wealth of financial expertise to ECLC’s Board. He graduated in 1992 from Boston College, with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in finance. He spent a dozen years at Morgan Stanley in various roles, working internationally in Hong Kong, London and Tokyo. Since 2004, O’Malley has been a partner and portfolio manager with Chatham Asset Management in New Jersey.

O’Malley said he was drawn to ECLC because of its mission and incredible staff. “As a local resident and a big believer in ECLC’s mission, it is an honor to serve as a director of an organization that has dedicated itself to empowering and enabling children in our community to achieve their maximum potential and enhance their quality of life,” he said.
