After a three-year wait, Montville High School students with special needs are learning work skills in the town’s police department through a program developed by our affiliate, Community Personnel Services (CPS)!
The program was approved back in 2020, but the pandemic caused a long delay. Finally, in January students finally began filing, completing data entry and learning other organizational skills in the department’s Records Bureau.
Police Sgt. Scott McGowan and Montville Educator Kevin Fallon identified a need for students to have additional opportunities to develop work place skills. They partnered with Jessica Aluotto of CPS to draft a prototype proposal for a Work Study Intern program at the police department.
CPS offers transition and supported employment services for students at Montville Township High School, ensuring they gain the necessary skills for their post-graduate goals, such as employment of secondary education.
